‘While It’s Here’

This painting is about a woman who works when the feeling comes to her. It is late, she is in bed with a drink beside her, and she may be writing a book or working on something only she understands. She does not seem concerned with whether this is the right time or the right place. Something has arrived, and she knows she needs to follow it.

I admire that freedom because I am not naturally like her. I rely on routine to work, take care of myself, and feel calm. She represents another way of living and creating. She trusts herself enough to begin whenever inspiration appears.

Maybe she is not completely different from me. Maybe she is a part of me that I am still learning to allow. The part that does not need everything to be in order before she starts.
